How my journey began

LaToya Green's captivating and authentic style captivates audiences while introducing listeners to tips and techniques that foster a stronger foundation of purpose. LaToya believes that “inspired people, inspire people” and threads that idea through all of her presentations. Motivated by the “bigness” of life, LaToya encourages people to meet the opportunity to be a part of change with enthusiasm. Because inspiration can be contagious, LaToya counsels people to set the atmosphere instead of reflecting it by conjuring up the audacity to be a catalyst for change.

Her ultimate passion is to empower leaders and social entrepreneurs to chase the goals they set with a refreshed, refined perspective. In her view, personal, social, and professional change happen when leaders begin to see goals and objectives in “Higher Definition”. By observing the dynamic ability of individuals to provoke action in her own life; from the preachers in the pulpit, to activists and civil servants in community politics, and teachers in classrooms, she has gleaned from the wisdom of effective leaders. LaToya now seeks to share that wisdom with others through Higher Definition Leadership and Empowerment Coaching.

LaToya brings to HDLEC over 10 years of experience in community and academic organizational leadership and 15 years of competitive debate and argumentation experience. Simply put, she is versed in advocacy, strategic planning, and leadership development. She has presented before student audiences at Columbia University, Morgan State University, the University of Kansas, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Kentucky. She has also facilitated workshops in partnership with organizations including Advantage Communications, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and the City of Littleton, Colorado. She holds a BFA in Communication-Public Relations and an MA in Communications rhetoric, and is currently a Professor and Director of Debate at California State University-Fullerton, and is celebrated as one of the best “debate-minds” in the activity. Honors include the 2019 University of Southern California Policy Debate Coach of the Year, 2018 CEDA Galentine Award for Exceptional Women in Coaching, 2015 Weber State University Coach of the Year Award, and the CEDA 2015 Mid-America Critic of the Year Award, among others.

LaToya Green is at the forefront of cultivating collaborative attitudes, encouraging meaningful and positive engagement, and challenging individuals to maximize opportunities. Personally, socially, and professionally she enjoys inspiring people to become the best versions of themselves, and she is now available to motivate and challenge your students, employees, and board members to be inspired people who inspire people. When she speaks, she gives a gift. One of the greatest parting mantras I have learned from LaToya is “higher heights and deeper depths.” This saying serves as a reminder of the growth I acquired under her mentorship, but also serves as reminder that the goal is to continuously grow. Even more, the goal is to constantly discover more about who I am and who I want to be. I believe that LaToya’s capacity to mentor others is infinite. Her ability to connect with individuals of various backgrounds and identities is a vital skill not many possess. She is an adaptive leader and an encouraging mentor. It for these reasons that I am so involved and so dedicated to being a leader on my campus and elsewhere. I met Toya when she got hired as the Director of Debate at Cal State Fullerton in 2015. Being coached by Toya has been one of the best and most formative of my learning experiences. Toya’s leadership skills are obvious and she does her best to get students to realize their potential as leaders, social justice advocates, and professionals.
